[Update: My coteacher is a lovely lady who will make phone calls to temples for me and find the schedule of the festivities.  There will be face painting!  However, it is supposed to rain.]

Mark your lunar calendars! Tomorrow is the eighth day of the fourth month — Buddha’s birthday!

However, frustration of frustrations, Jeju Island may not do anything interesting to mark the occasion besides close school. My host family wants to go to a cafe but I feel like I should see a monk or something. Or maybe I should take the occasion to crack that copy of the Saddharmapundarika that I picked up over break? Meditate? Climb an oreum and do yogic breathing under a tree? I just hate to treat it like Labor Day.
