Am freaking a little about grading my students oral tests. It’s so subjective. I’m so subjective. And is it fair to the kid who doesn’t have parents that some of the first questions are “What does your father do? Does your mother work?” I want to give her credit for volunteering that she lives with her grandmother who is, apparently, a haenyo, a woman diver.
And what about the ones who memorized good answers and don’t listen for the questions? So when I ask “How is the weather today?” they answer the question they were given–“How is the weather on Jeju?”–and say “warm” which is not true.
