걱정하지 마세요

I have always found it somewhat mystifying that cute little box cutters are a sort of stationary staple in Korea. The cute little box cutters usually have hearts or cute little cartoons all over the casing. And today one of my students cut the palm of her right hand with one such adorable implement of destruction so that she wouldn’t have to write. No, my student, I will not will not show you much sympathy for such behavior, but I will contradict your friends when they say you are a man. Also, I will mark you on my attendance roster and take away your knife.

It may be important for me to remember how to say “Don’t worry about it” in Korean. My lower level students seem very much worried.
