Today I taught a lesson on the news. It went surprisingly well; one of my students already knew where Java was and we seemed to understand the concept of a tsunami and its subsequent effects. However, I was foolish enough to leave the article about the environmental effects of the war in Israel and Lebanon for the independent activity and they were basically like “I cannot read this.” In retrospect, not surprising.
Irene taught after me. Memorable quotes from her lesson: “I am not a genius, so I don’t know.” And, “What happens if you don’t have a toilet in your house?” Answer: “You cannot poop.”
